  • 2 cup freshly grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 pound Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 clove garlic minced
  • 2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. 1 Preheat your oven to 350°F and position the rack in the middle.
  2. 2 Grate the cheeses and slice the peeled potatoes into 1/8-inch pieces using a mandoline slicer.
  3. 3 In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, add garlic, and sauté for about 30 seconds. Pour in heavy cream with salt and pepper; warm gently without boiling.
  4. 4 Lightly grease a baking dish (9×13). Layer half of the potatoes on the bottom, drizzle with half of the cream mixture, and sprinkle half of each cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
